Especially in contrast to the other word, “preach” I think- it’s like the total opposite.

Yes, the word is Anathema, and yes, it does mean “God-damn”. And it’s connected to “Gospel” (good news) because, in God’s opinioin, anyone perverting His “Good News” into something as foul as a human-centered, works-oriented religion is definitely stepping on His toes–and alienating so many people from Him as well.
